Welcome to Kensington Community & Schools Carnival Mas Band

We are a locally based Carnival Mas Band that take part in the Notting Hill Carnival each year with strong representation from the local community in North Kensington within which the Carnival takes place.

We celebrate the rich diversity of the local community and learn about the history of Carnival bringing children and young people together through the art of costume making, dance and the parade itself.

As the years have progressed, we have strived for inclusion. We work with BSL Sign Language interpreters to sign the Soca songs so that more children and young people can access the Mas Band and Carnival itself.

Fun, Inclusivity & Collaboration

Our biggest goal each year is to get as many children and young people, as possible, taking part in the Notting Hill Carnival – having fun and positive experiences not only on the day but the whole summer leading up to the event.

Our Mission, Vision & Values

Mission

Our biggest goal each year is to get as many  children and young people, as possible, taking part in the Notting Hill Carnival – having fun and positive experiences not only on the day but the whole summer leading up to the event.

We do this by creating opportunities for Children and Young People to take part in Art, Music, Movement, Sound & Sign Language lessons.

Vision

To spread the Joy of Carnival and demonstrate the power of bringing community together through the creative process of an Inclusive Mass Camp.

Values

To have Fun – To create opportunities for Children and Young People to learn through play and movement so that they have space for development through joy.

To Be Inclusive – Through our programme we promote intercultural dialog, we aim to thread the value of understanding different cultures through our work as well as the need for more inclusive spaces for Children and Young People with additional needs.

To Work in Collaboration – We partner with other organisations and Schools who work with Children and Young People who share our Vision, working collaboratively spreads our Mission and widens our reach so that more Children and Young People can experience the Joy of Carnival.
